Letter to the editor: The American thing to do is to make sure protesters can protest

Ms. Sisemore needs a reply to her letter published on July 8 about protests on whatever she defines as sacred holidays being disrespectful.

Come on, Leah. Of course they are. That’s the whole point of protests. It’s a defining characteristic.

Unless you’re of the mind that protests should be only at times and places that don’t inconvenience you?

I’ve personally been to places where you can be killed for protesting. I much prefer the places where citizens enjoy the right to protest. The American thing to do is to personally make sure protesters can protest.

Do the brave thing. Do the American thing.
