Letter to the editor: The Constitution is the law of the land, and it is for all of us

Himmler and Hitler are names once feared that became despised for following the whims and jealousies of a madman who hated Jews — and everyone else who moved against him.

Hitler was responsible for the deaths of at least 40 million people — 40 million!

His ambition was as insatiable as his desire to be worshipped, leading to global war.

Why draw comparisons between ICE and the Nazi SS? Both were led by madmen to whom they swore fidelity and allegiance, beyond even loyalty to their country and its laws. ICE is Trump’s Nazi SS. Hitler’s SS troops eventually grew to despised by good men and women around the planet, as they terrorized their countrymen, torturing, raping and killing children, women and elders, and eventually annihilating millions of Jews, Romany, union members, disabled persons — their own citizens.

For no other reason than they could.

In much the same way, ICE immediately decided themselves, without support of our justice system, that the Bill of Rights was reserved for citizens — and then only white citizens. And then only taxpaying white citizens, and then only those they decide are worthy of life.

ICE has never had the right or authority to waive due process and are currently disobeying court orders nationwide for deploying troops illegally into our states, violating states’ rights to self-govern for no reason other than the tender, hurt “feelers” of the weakest, most insecure little felon, pedophile, adjudicated rapist to ever take possession of the highest office in the land.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Demand all who wield the power of the law do so by following the law. Demand the same accountability we require of professional law enforcement nationwide. Accountability comes when they tell us their names, show their faces and their identification and prove to the citizens they are worthy of our trust by following the most basic standards as those used by real law enforcement professionals who pledge to uphold the Constitution for “we the people.” Not, “we, the white male property owners,” but we the people, who, by law, include every individual on U.S. soil.

You may wish it was otherwise, but the Constitution is the law of the land and is for all of us, despite the lies of Kristi Noem or Donald Trump.
