There are three kinds of voters in our country today: Those who work for a living and produce something of value; those who save and invest and benefit from owning capital; and those who wish to live by taking from those first two.
When the takers amount to half the population, and can vote, our free and productive country is doomed.
My Democrat friends are not completely takers like the Democratic leaders in Washington state, but they have been taken by the unsupportable idea that “the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes.” This is a case of their sin of envy being used against them. What my Democrat friends don’t seem to notice is that the tax increases that the Washington state Democrats have enacted mostly affect the “not rich.”
“Rich” people are rich because they know how to produce value and they know how to protect their money. The Democrats don’t actually soak the rich; they soak everybody.
Some poor people are poor because they spend their effort trying to take handouts from the government instead of learning of the need to work. It is a fact that one in four people in Washington are receiving Medicaid, which is medical welfare. Many persons in Washington state are receiving disability benefits although they are not genuinely disabled.
There are of course people who are unable to work at all. In today’s world, government welfare is considered necessary for the genuinely handicapped persons. They should and would be taken care of as charity by private organizations if there was not welfare by the inefficient government. I am in favor of charity for truly needy people that comes from the good hearts of private people and organizations, not government forcing us to pay taxes for benefits. Forced giving is not charity.
So “not rich” Democrat voters think the all-powerful government will take care of them because they envy the rich and they think they cannot take care of themselves, while the Democrat government takes care of everybody.
