It’s wild to me Commissioner Sean Swope posted again recently attacking the Lewis County Democrats organization on the heels of himself making misleading and inflammatory statements he then chose to write a commentary in The Chronicle to attempt to correct afterward.
Part of Mr. Swope’s most recent post included assertions that Democrats support violent gang members. As usual, Mr. Swope has pointed one finger out while forgetting three still point back at himself during that hand gesture.
If we are discussing violent gang members and their affiliates, than surely we must discuss Commissioner Swope and Sheriff Rob Snaza recently going out of their way to step on bylaws and toes at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center while making public statements of support and backing for a person hired by Snaza and awaiting decertification who has been charged by authorities with previously affiliating with and filming initiation rituals for a violent American gang, the Proud Boys.
Given Mr. Swope’s sudden concern with the optics of supporting violent gang affiliates, I would request Lewis County immediately put on administrative leave the violent gang affiliate on your payroll pending the outcome of her final hearing in July and let me know when that occurs.
Just like this person, your employee, got in bed with a Nazi and ultimately has to face that that history will always make her feel like an unsafe officer to certain communities, so does Lewis County have to face the fact their sheriff chose to hire an affiliate of a violent American gang and that legacy of unsafe practices is what he will leave with this employing agency long after he himself leaves. Commissioner Swope and Sheriff Snaza are still attempting damage control and justification regarding Lewis County’s unsafe hiring practices and continued support of unsafe persons when perhaps the best course of action at this point is for Lewis County to simply face the music after all these years.
Thanks for listening,
Kyle Wheeler
