Letter to the editor: Washington deserves better than Joel McEntire

Posted

Apparently, civility wasn’t on the curriculum when Joel McEntire was teaching, nor was integrity covered during his time in the military. If it had been, maybe Washington’s 19th District wouldn’t be stuck with a state representative who uses his Facebook page like a middle-school bully with WiFi.

Mr. McEntire likes to try and dox private citizens. Yes, the kind of behavior that even social media moderators frown upon, and he likes to toss ableist slurs around like it’s still 1953. For someone who taught young minds, he sure missed the lesson on empathy and professionalism.

It’s not just embarrassing; it’s dangerous. With tensions in this country already sky high, a grown man should know better than to throw gasoline on the fire just to get a few digital high-fives from his fan club. Apparently, with Joel McEntire, knowing better and doing better are clearly not the same thing.

Washingtonians deserve leaders who act like adults, not online trolls with legislative paychecks. District 19 deserves better than this walking Facebook comment section.
