Letter to the editor: What have we learned this week?

Posted

1. People are angry and volatile and need to take a breath.

2. Our public officials need to stop jumping to conclusions without any facts.

3. Taking responsibility for wrongful/hurtful actions and making amends go a long way.

4. Public officials, from the top down, need to condemn political violence of all kinds instead of contributing to the rhetoric.

5. Take a page from Spenser Cox, Republican governor of Utah — social media is a cancer. Tune out, turn off, choose another path.

The last letter I read on The Chronicle page was nearly calling for violence against the left as it was blaming this latest act of violence as being perpetrated by someone other than another member of the MAGA crowd. This has been proven wrong and we need to acknowledge that.

Please take a moment to reflect before reacting. Wait for facts and information from official sources and not from social media or other unsupported sources. It’s the least we can do as an informed member of our society. And take accountability for your own actions.
