Letter to the editor: Why would we want what Joe Kent is proposing?

Posted

Every law, regulation and ordinance affects how we get to live our lives.

Our elected officials decide what laws we will have and what we will not. I want a future for all of us that protects our rights, is safe and free, and full of promise.

Abolishing vote by mail, legalizing machine guns, banning reproductive rights nationally, getting rid of the FBI, and banning immigration for 20 years to establish a white majority will not accomplish any of that.

This is what Joe Kent wants for us.

We would be less safe, continue to be frightened of one another, isolated from our larger communities and have fewer rights. Why would we make such a choice when Marie Gluesenkamp Perez will continue to protect what we have and continue to improve our district by bringing federal funds ($21 million and counting) for the projects we’ve been wanting: improved roads in Clark County; Ryderwood drought resiliency in Cowlitz County; additional grain storage in Lewis County; improvements at the Port of Willapa Harbor to support fishing in Pacific County; modernizing law enforcement communications systems in Skamania County; and development of a business support system to aid agricultural producers in Thurston County.

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez wants strong border controls and new legislation that will stop the flow of drugs by the cartels. Please be sure to vote. And join me in voting for Marie Gluesenkamp Perez on Nov. 5.
