Posted

In the race for Lewis County clerk, incumbent Scott Tinney leads his challenger, Linda Williams, with the vote count currently sitting at 12,464 out of 21,999, or 56.66%, in Tinney’s favor.

As of around 8:15 p.m., Williams trailed with 9,132 votes, or 41.51%,

Tinney, originally elected in 2017, is seeking what would be his second term as county clerk here in Lewis County. He also has over 30 years of experience serving as a deputy clerk and clerk in both Lewis and Thurston counties.

Should he win re-election, Tinney plans to continue improving clerk office and court communication, improving customer service and work on electronic filing.

Williams’ experience stems from her education and work as a paralegal and various other legal roles in the Lewis County Juvenile Court, Lewis County Drug Court and worked for Lewis County Bar Legal Aid as well.

Should she defeat Tinney, Williams plans to make the return of a court facilitator a priority and also hopes to implement a new electronic document filing system.

During August’s primary election Tinney earned 55.33% of the vote to Williams’ 43.1%. The term length for Lewis County Clerk is six years.

There are an estimated 5,554 ballots left to be counted in the county, according to the Lewis County Auditor’s Office. The next update is set for Wednesday.

County certification of the Washington state general election will take place at 9 a.m. on Nov. 29.
