Members of Lewis County law enforcement agencies will mingle with community members during the annual National Night Out event from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at George Washington Park in Centralia

“National Night Out is a community event that promotes police-community partnerships with the goal of making our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live,” the Centralia Police Department stated in a news release. “It provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.”

Children and families will have an opportunity to see various police patrol vehicles and speak with officers and deputies from the Centralia Police Department, the Chehalis Police Department, the Napavine Police Department and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The event also includes hot dogs, popcorn, coffee, a bounce house, a dunk tank, live music, giveaways and other kids’ activities.

It’s all free.

“National Night Out celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and we hope you’ll join us to celebrate in the park on Tuesday,” the department stated in the release.
