Reid Nicholas Conrad, the 32-year-old Salkum man found guilty of raping a teenage girl over a multi-year period, was sentenced in Lewis County Superior Court Wednesday to 280 months to life in prison — a minimum of 23 years, four months.

Judge Paul Strophy, who presided over the bench trial last December, imposed the sentence that includes lifetime community custody, a lifetime sex offender registration and mental health treatment, according to court documents.

The judge entered a lifetime sexual assault protection order on behalf of the victim.

Strophy found Conrad guilty of all 19 counts — including 17 for third-degree rape of a child and two for second-degree rape by forcible compulsion — following last year’s bench trial.

The 19 offenses occurred when Conrad was living in Mossyrock. They began in November 2020 when the victim was 14 and ended in March 2022 when she turned 17.

In two of those assaults, the judge found that the victim had been “incapable of consenting to sexual intercourse by reason of being mentally incapacitated due to intoxication from methamphetamine ingestion,” according to court documents.

Conrad provided the methamphetamine, as stated by the victim in court documents.

As part of the court’s findings of fact, Strophy concluded that the victim's testimony was corroborated by other witnesses, including the victim’s father, who reportedly said that Conrad had told the father he was dating the victim and wanted the father’s permission.

Another witness reportedly testified that Conrad told the witness he’d had sexual intercourse with the victim on Feb. 2, 2021, and “shot her up with methamphetamine for the first time on the same day,” according to court documents.

The judge found that Conrad’s statement to the investigating Lewis County Sheriff’s detective was “not credible given all of the evidence presented by the state.”

Conrad denied having sex with the victim when contacted by the detective in 2023. He was arrested after the interview.

The defendant was held without bail following Strophy’s guilty ruling.

On Wednesday, the judge sentenced Conrad to five years for each of the third-degree rape counts, the maximum allowed for Class C felonies. He sentenced Conrad to 280 months to life for each of the second-degree rape counts.

Because the sentences run concurrently, Conrad will serve a minimum of 280 months in prison up to a maximum of life.

In an impact statement filed in court, the victim detailed her struggle to feel safe following years of assault, her nightmares about what happened, and her inability to “truly trust someone again.”

She described her emotions as a “toxic torture” that will never leave her body.

According to court documents, Conrad’s criminal history includes convictions for reckless burning, attempting to elude, theft, robbery and burglary.

Prosecutors initially charged Conrad with two counts of third-degree rape of a child in August 2023. Those charges were ultimately amended to include 19 felony counts on Dec. 18, 2025.

On Feb. 18, Don Blair, Conrad’s defense attorney, submitted a notice of appeal to the Washington Court of Appeals, Division Il, seeking review of the judgment and sentence.
