Lewis County Master Gardeners to host ‘Gardening For Everyone’

There are signs of fall all around us as the air is cooler, football games are being played, colorful leaves are falling to the ground, and pumpkins and Chrysanthemums are decorating the outside of stores.

All of these are also a reminder that the WSU Lewis County Master Gardeners are busy getting ready for Gardening For Everyone, the organization stated in a news release.

Gardening For Everyone is a semi-annual event where six free gardening workshops will be offered to the public at no charge and no registration is required.

The fall event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 in Washington Hall at Centralia College.

The Master Gardeners encourage people to arrive early as seating fills up quickly. The schedule of workshops being offered is as follows:

9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.:

  • Trellis, Pergolas, Arbors and More
  • Putting Your Garden to Bed, which will be offered in Spanish and English

10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.:

  • Deer Resistant Garden
  • Caring for Dahlias, Digging, Dividing and Storing

12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

  • Ideas for Garden Art
  • Water — an Unusual Perspective

Before and between workshops, participants can visit these exhibitors and hear from experts on the following topics in the lobby: Southwest Washington Mycological Society; 4-H; pollinators and their needs; Lewis County Noxious Weed Control; WSU Master Food Preservers; forestry; SnapEd; grapes; Lewis County Repair Fair; Black Hills Audubon; WSU Lewis County Master Gardener crafts; Mason bees; WSU Master Gardeners; and WSU Master Recyclers and Composters.
