Sanctioned by the Northwest Professional Rodeo Association for the second year, the Lewis County Rodeo is set to take place during the Southwest Washington Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 14, and Thursday, Aug. 15.

Both rodeo events will begin at 7 p.m.

The rodeo will feature multiple events including bareback riding, tie down roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, bull riding and mutton busting.

Mutton busting is a longtime beloved event of the Southwest Washington Fair. The fair office began accepting emails from parents and guardians of potential sheep riders on Thursday, Aug. 1.

To be eligible to participate, kids must be over 4 years old and weigh 60 pounds or less.

There will be 15 riders each day on Wednesday and Thursday of fair week plus three alternates.
