Lewis County Seeks Individuals Interested in Participating in Budget Process

Posted

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking Lewis County residents interested in providing input and guidance as the county sets its 2023 budget.

The BOCC is seeking one or two volunteers from each of the county’s three commissioner districts to participate in budget meetings in October and November and to provide feedback to the commissioners.

Application packets for the Citizens Budget Committee are available by visiting the “BOCC News” section at the bottom of the commissioners’ web page at https://lewiscountywa.gov/offices/commissioners/. Residents interested in participating in the budget process are requested to submit an application and a letter of interest to Rieva Lester, clerk of the board, in one of the following three ways:

• By mail at 351 N.W. North St., Chehalis, WA 98532

• Via email at committees@lewiscountywa.gov (include “Budget” in the subject line).

• In person at the commissioners’ office on the second floor of the historic courthouse, 351 N.W. North St.

Applications are due by 3 p.m. Friday, July 15.

All budget meetings are open to the public and the BOCC encourages all citizens to participate, regardless of whether they join the Citizens Budget Committee. Individuals running for an elected county office in 2022 will not be considered for membership on the committee but are urged to attend the budget meetings. The budget meetings are tentatively scheduled for all day Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Monday, Oct. 17. The Citizens Budget Committee also will meet with Budget Administrator Becky Butler numerous times throughout the budget-setting process.

For questions about the committee, including information about the time commitment, contact Butler at 360-740-1198 or becky.butler@lewiscountywa.gov.

Agendas for all of the commissioners’ official meetings — including the budget meetings — can be found on the “Agendas and Calendars” page at https://lewiscountywa.gov/offices/commissioners/agendas-calendar/. Agendas are posted at least 24 hours in advance of any meeting.
