In a final act of service to its community, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Association has donated its remaining funds, $5,250, to the Centralia College Foundation for a new scholarship.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Association, a longstanding all-volunteer unit of trained law enforcement officers committed to serving the residents of Lewis County, was disbanded in 2022, according to Centralia College.

The new Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Association Scholarship will be for $1,000 per year and will be awarded to a second-year Centralia College student studying criminal justice, Centralia College announced Wednesday.

The scholarship will be awarded next spring and annually through the Centralia College Foundation’s normal scholarship awarding process.

“This scholarship serves as a symbol of our continued support and our sincere gratitude for the students who seek to answer the call to serve,” said reserve officer Clarence Lupo on behalf of the association. “This donation is made on behalf of every man and woman who has served as a reservist in the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.”

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Association was a nonprofit support group dedicated to the reserve officers, their training and supplies.
