Lewis County Public Works will host an open house for residents to view preliminary design plans and provide feedback on a planned wastewater treatment plant and dispersal facility in Packwood.

According to a Thursday news release, the facility is proposed for the north portion of the Hampton Mill site, with pipes running along U.S. Highway 12 to the intersection of Skate Creek Road and Snyder Road. The project would also expand service to eastern portions of Packwood.

Construction on the project likely won’t begin until early in 2025.

“This project, intended to service the Packwood community, will create short-term job opportunities during construction and long-term opportunities for ongoing facility operations,” said Mark Burch, special projects manager for Lewis County Public Works, in the county’s news release. “Completion of the facility will not only serve the immediate needs of the community but will also support future commercial and residential growth in the community and it will be an important step allowing for more affordable housing options for people who live and work in Packwood.”

The open house will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Packwood Community Hall, located at 12935 U.S. Highway 12 in Packwood.
