Lewis County Public Health and Social Services and the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis will host a Veterans Symposium focused on dependency and indemnity compensation, Veterans Affairs (VA) pension programs and death benefits for veterans and their families on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

The symposium will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Museum, located at 100 SW Veterans Way in Chehalis.

The free, informative session will include representatives from the Seattle regional VA office who will be available to share detailed information about VA benefit programs and answer questions, according to a news release from the county.

A representative from Comfort Keepers will also be present to provide information about aid and assistance services available to veterans and their families.

The symposium is designed to help veterans, surviving spouses and family members better understand the benefits that may be available to them through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and supportive care partners.

Presenters will explain eligibility requirements, outline application processes and answer questions from attendees.

Many veterans and their families are unaware of the benefits they may qualify for or find the application process difficult to navigate, the release stated. This event aims to provide clear, practical information directly from professionals so attendees can make informed decisions.

The event is open to all veterans, surviving spouses and family members who want to learn more about VA benefits or supportive services, or who may be assisting a loved one.

No registration is required.
