Lewis County Tool Bucket Library memberships available as gifts this holiday season

This year, the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter Volunteers are asking community members to reduce waste and consider replacing their normal gifts with a year-long membership to the local Tool Bucket Library.

“The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) volunteers want to help you reduce that amount of waste by gifting thoughtfully,” reads an announcement from the MRC volunteers. “Instead of another item that will have to be wrapped, unwrapped and may just sit on a shelf unused, they suggest gifting a one-year membership to the MRC Tool Bucket Library.”

The Washington State University Extension Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers are selling year-long memberships to the Tool Bucket Library for $45 for a general membership or $25 for a senior, student, veteran or those that qualify as low-income.

Those with a membership get to take full advantage of the program's new Tool Bucket Library located at the Floral Park Sustainability Project.

According to the MRC volunteers, the library offers more than 1,000 different tools that can be rented out for one week at a time.

Tools include everything from the most basic hammers, shovels and rakes to those made for more specific jobs.

The tool library even offers a selection of board games.

“MRC volunteers recently opened Lewis County’s first tool lending library, which is just like a book library, but members can borrow a variety of tools for household, gardening, automotive and other do-it-yourself projects,” reads a statement from the MRC volunteers.
