Former Lewis County Transit Human Resources and Finance Director Rebecca Towner will now take the top job as executive director of the local transit agency.
The Lewis County Transit Authority Board of Directors announced Towner's promotion on Wednesday afternoon. Towner will officially take on the new position on Thursday, Oct. 1. In the announcement, board of directors members said they were impressed by Towner’s experience and strong relationships she has around the region.
“I am excited to bring Ms. Towner back to the organization and lead the dedicated team of employees that serve the citizens of Lewis County,” said Transit Authority Board Chair Scott Brummer. “Rebecca is well respected by staff and community partners alike. I’m confident she will excel in her new role as we look to the future of public transportation.”
Brummer served as interim executive director of the agency for a short period of time after the most recent outside hire for the position was terminated by the agency after just four months in the role.
The agency announced the hiring of Robert “Josh” Nylander in August of last year to fill the agency's vacant executive director position.
He started the position in mid-September and was gone by the end of January.
Nylander’s hiring also came shortly after the agency announced the gradual retirement of its former longtime Executive Director Joe Clark at the end of the summer of 2025.
