Local health organizations don’t have updated COVID vaccine

Local health care organizations are encouraging residents to visit local pharmacies to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine. As of Tuesday afternoon, neither Arbor Health or Providence Health have received the updated booster.

In a Monday news release, Arbor Health said the Washington state Department of Health is working to evenly distribute a limited supply of vaccines across the state, and Arbor Health has not yet received its vaccine order.

“We appreciate the community members’ patience,” Arbor Health CEO Robert Mach said in the release. “We are committed to sharing updates about vaccine supply and will notify the public when we receive our COVID-19 booster vaccines.”

Chris Thomas, a spokesperson for Providence, said Tuesday the organization will not carry the vaccine in its medical clinics or pharmacies.

“Because the COVID-19 vaccine is widely available at community pharmacies, Providence is encouraging our patients and community to obtain the vaccine through their local pharmacy,” Thomas wrote in an email.

Arbor Health encouraged residents to visit vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov to find the closest pharmacy or location with the vaccine.
