Jaycee Amos, a local triathlete, will be traveling to Nice, France, to compete in the VinFast Ironman Women’s World Championship on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Raised in the Napavine and Adna area, Amos spent her youth showing horses in Lewis County.  Locals of Lewis County might see her on her training runs and rides, tackling the many hills in the Adna area. When she’s not training, she’s managing the busy Napavine Starbucks or helping out her grandparents, according to an announcement from supporters.

Amos will compete against the best female triathletes from around the world to conquer a 140.6-mile course.

The race begins with a 2.4-mile ocean swim in the Mediterranean, then athletes head into the mountains for a 112-mile technical hinterland bike course. The race ends with a 26.2-mile run along the coast.

According to the announcement, Amos is a dedicated triathlete. She trains for hours rain or shine nearly daily to prepare for her events.

She has traveled all over the world competing in Ironman events in places such as Australia, Canada and throughout the United States, including Kona, Hawaii.
