The Onalaska volleyball team came up with a huge non-league win to open the 2023 season, beating Naselle — which took third place at the 1B state tournament last fall — in four sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-16, 26-24 on Tuesday.

“These girls put together a great win tonight,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “They are building this program back. They have all put in so much time, energy and commitment to the program it is amazing to see it paying off for them on the court.”

Freshman Emalie Jacoby got her varsity career started with a bang, leading the Loggers (1-0) with 20 kills, 11 aces, and 10 assists.

Fellow ninth grader Braelyn Babb dished out 12 assists and added eight kills, and at the back, eighth grader Capri McGraw led the way with 12 digs.

Onalaska will be back in action Thursday, hitting the road to the coast to face Ilwaco.
