A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of second-degree arson, accused of starting the fire at a west side business on Feb. 18, according to Olympia police.

The blaze triggered fire sprinklers that limited the damage caused by the fire; however, a GoFundMe campaign has still been launched to raise money for the business.

The business has been identified as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of Olympia.

"The resulting water and lighter fluid damage ruined 80% of the remaining mats in the gym and damaged the drywall," the campaign post reads.

So far the business has raised more than $13,000 of a $55,000 goal, according to the campaign.

About 9:40 p.m. Feb. 18, police and fire crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of Black Lake Boulevard Southwest, Olympia police Lt. Paul Lower said.

Police think the man entered the business through a window and poured accelerant on the walls of it before possibly starting the fire with a cigar, Lower said.

Detectives found the cigar, and because it had an uncommon label, they checked with area stores and finally connected the purchase of it to the suspect.

The man was taken into custody after he was spotted Monday in the area of Harrison Avenue and Division Street, Lower said.
