A 77-year-old Olympia man is facing felony charges in Lewis County Superior Court for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Lewis County in January 2023.
Staff at Providence Centralia Hospital reported the alleged rape to the Centralia Police Department on Jan. 30, at which time detectives opened an investigation.
The Chronicle is choosing not to release the name of the suspect in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
The man was charged Monday, Aug. 14, with two felony sexual assault charges. One charge is a class A felony carrying a maximum penalty of life in prison and one is a class B felony carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
Bail is set at $200,000 and arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17.
A no-contact order protecting the alleged victim is in place.
