Vancouver authorities closed southbound Interstate 5 for a time on Saturday afternoon during a standoff with a man barricaded inside his East 13th Street apartment.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, a resident at the The Hudson apartments told police another person in the complex pointed a gun at them, police said in a news release.

The Vancouver Police Department sent a SWAT team to the apartment complex and closed some lanes of I-5 south, which is only 600 feet away.

Officers ultimately arrested Terry Meyers, 58, and seized several guns from his apartment, Vancouver police said.

Police booked Meyers into the Clark County jail on suspicion of assault, the news release said.
