Memorial Day weekend Packwood Flea Market approaches

Posted

Throngs of deal-seeking customers will descend on the East Lewis County town of Packwood for the Memorial Day weekend Packwood Flea Market Friday, May 24, through Monday, May 27. Some vendors will set up shop on Thursday and begin offering their wares.

Launched in the 1970s, the event — considered the largest flea market in the Pacific Northwest — is held over four days twice a year, with the second being on Labor Day weekend in September.

No single person or organization organizes the event each year. Vendors offering just about everything flock to Packwood for the event. Past years have included jewelry, Native American art, collectibles, antiques, rocks, furniture, clothes, food and more food.

Visitors can expect to find hundreds of vendors. And merchants who set up along the 1-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 12 can expect thousands of potential customers.

Motorists can expect slowdowns on the highway as flea market attendees cross back and forth between vendors.
