A 74-year-old Mercer Island man who went missing over two weeks ago was found killed in Grays Harbor County, about 100 miles from where he had last been seen.

Curtis Engeland, 74, had been missing since Feb. 24 when his roommate filed a report with the Mercer Island Police Department. The roommate stated Engeland had been out of his normal routine, according to police.

Engeland was later found dead of a sharp force injury to the neck in Cosmopolis, a small town in Grays Harbor County.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office, the agency that confirmed his homicide, didn't know Tuesday where or when he was killed.

Mercer Island police had been working with Engeland's family and friends before he was found, and the State Patrol issued a Silver Alert asking for help finding him. He was last seen Feb. 23 on Mercer Island.

A Mercer Island police spokesperson declined to answer questions about Engeland's disappearance Monday morning, before information about his homicide was publicly released. Police said there is no related threat to the community.

Additional details weren't immediately available.
