Toledo High School's “Two Hands On The Wheel” student group conducted a traffic safety week at the high school last week to promote safe driving habits.

Traffic safety events held throughout the week included an assembly and presentation by the Washington State Patrol about distracted driving on Tuesday, a heightened police presence in the Toledo area on Wednesday for traffic education and enforcement, and a mock crash, mock funeral and mock trial on Friday.

Multiple agencies, including the Toledo Fire Department, the Toledo Police Department, the Washington State Patrol, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Lewis County 911, the Lewis County Coroner's Office, the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office, Lewis County Superior Court, the Lewis County chaplain, eCare Mortuary and Toledo High School staff, were involved in Friday’s event.

“Two Hands on the Wheel” was founded in 2012 and is currently made up of about 10 high school students, according to a news release.

The focus of the group is to educate youth and promote safe driving habits.
