Morton man killed in fatal crash into Tilton River on Thursday

A 53-year-old Morton man died after his vehicle lost control on westbound state Route 508 near Morton, crossed the eastbound lanes and crashed into the Tilton River shortly after midnight on Thursday. 



The Washington State Patrol responded to the crash at 12:21 a.m. on Nov. 9. 

The man, who was identified by the state patrol as Edward W. Hughes, was declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the Washington State Patrol. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The Washington State Patrol has not determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
