Mountain View Timberland Library in Randle will host a “grand closing” event for its current library building on Nov. 16 ahead of the library’s move to its new location at 10111 U.S. Highway 12.

The current building, which was built in 1988, is located at 210 Silverbrook Road in Randle.

“This day will possibly be the last day the library will be open before we move into the new library,” the Friends of the Mountain View Timberland Library said in a Oct. 13 Facebook post. “We have so many awesome opportunities for the community to be able to have a chance to own a piece of the library's history!”

The event is intended to “celebrate all (the old building’s) glory and service as well as bring excitement for the opening of the new library — which is coming up quite quickly,” the Friends of the Mountain View Timberland Library said in an Oct. 10 Facebook post.

Details about the event will be released on the Friends of the Mountain View Timberland’s Library Facebook page in the coming weeks.

According to the Timberland Regional Library (TRL), the Mountain View Library spans 3,400 square feet with an open concept on a 1-acre site. The facility broke ground on April 4.

When completed, the project will include a drive-thru window, expanded access hours and space for large programs or events.

In February, TRL approved a contract with Schwiesow Construction, of Centralia, to construct the facility, which was designed by Aetta Architects.

“The East Lewis County library building is a testament to TRL’s commitment to provide modern, accessible and innovative library services to the communities within their district and marks a historic moment as it is the first brand new library building to be erected in the region in two decades,” TRL stated in a news release at the time.

The Timberland Regional Library covers an area of 7,000 miles in five counties. This includes libraries in Centralia, Chehalis, Oakville, Packwood, Tenino, Tumwater, Winlock and Yelm, among other cities.

More information and ongoing updates on the project can be found on the New Mountain View Library Page at https://trl.org/.
