Rainier ripped off a 22-8 run to start the game and never looked back, completing a 74-43, non-league victory over visiting Mossyrock on Wednesday.

“We got off to a fast start by playing great half court defense and then pushing the ball and getting some high quality looks in transition,” Rainier coach Ben Sheaffer said.  We needed to play a complete game like this as we look to build confidence going into the final stretch of the regular season.”

Rainier senior sharpshooter Ian Sprouffske led all scorers with 29 points, while the Mountaineers also got double-digit scoring out of Logan Bowers (10) and Curtis Keller (10)

“Ian was in attack mode and Logan played really well on the block, taking advantage of his size and ability to pass out of the post,” Sheaffer said. “Gavin Owen, Thomas Ronne and Ethan Gonzales gave us some high energy minutes off the bench.   We took another step forward tonight.”

Mossyrock never fully recovered from the tough start as the Vikings were outscored in all four quarters.

The Vikings were led by Keegan Kolb’s 21 points and Zack Munoz’ 13 points. The Vikings shot 11 of 20 from the line.

Rainier (10-4, 4-3 C2BL) heads to Toutle Lake on Friday. Mossyrock (4-6, 1-2 CVL) hosts rival Pe Ell on Friday.
