Mountaineers Get Win Over T-Wolves

The Rainier girls basketball team bounced back into the win column Friday, going on the road to Randle and beating Morton-White Pass 67-43.

Haleigh Hanson led all scorers with 26 points, with sophomore Angelica Askey coming in right behind her with 22. Brooklyn Swenson added eight, Janess Blackburn scored six, and Lilly Johnson scored four.

Hanson led the way rebound-wise with nine boards, with Blackburn getting in for seven and Acacia Murphy logging six. Askey and Swenson both had six assists, and Askey also had eight steals.

MWP’s pair of Armstrongs led the way in the T-Wolves’ scoring column, With Natalia Armstrong scoring 19 points and Malia Armstrong adding six. Madyson Bryant scored nine points, and McKenzee Mays had six.

Rainier led 15-9 after a quarter of play and 30-19 at halftime, then went on a 22-7 run in the third quarter to put things out of reach.

Rainier (2-1, 1-1 C2BL) is slated to play at Mossyrock on Saturday, and MWP (2-1, 1-1 C2BL) will face Eatonville.
