Mountaineers handle Chinooks in sweep

The Rainier volleyball team won its third straight match on Thursday, sweeping Kalama 25-20, 25-15, 25-16 in a C2BL affair.

The Mountaineers (8-3, 3-1 C2BL) were led with stellar defensive performances from Olivia Earsley, who had 32 digs, and Allyson Ooms, who had 18. Ooms also had a solid day at the net, notching seven kills.

Acacia Murphy also had a great day at the net, tallying eight kills and seven blocks, while Haleigh Hanson also added seven kills of her own.

Brooklyn Swenson and Katelyn Eckroth were stellar serving and passing, as they each had three aces while Swenson had 17 assists and Eckroth had eight.

At 3-1 in league play, the Mountaineers are in fourth place in the C2BL standings, one win behind third-place Toutle Lake but one loss in front of fifth-place Onalaska.

Up next, they’ll take on Morton-White Pass in Morton. The Timberwolves have yet to win a league game.
