Fueled by another stellar night from Toledo’s three-headed rushing attack, it dispatched of Rainier 56-14 in a C2BL East contest on Friday night in South Thurston County.

Carter Swofford, Eli Weeks and Nathan Beaver accounted for all of the Riverhawks (6-0, 3-0 C2BL East) rushing yards at 289. They are going through the gaps behind an offense line that features three starters that are playing varsity for the first time.

“They’ve gotten in a groove,” Toledo head coach Mike Christensen said. “We’re seeing that progress.”

Rainier (3-3, 2-2) hit a couple big pass plays that allowed its offense to strike early. Jacob Meldrum bulldozed his way for a 4-yard score and threw a 32-yard pass to Jordan Pringle for a pair of one-score leads.

The Riverhawks rebounded emphatically with seven straight touchdowns. Weeks finished with five total while Swofford reached over 140 yards rushing once again. Trevin Gale and Adam Kruger each caught a TD pass over 55 yards.

Toledo hosts Morton-White Pass next week while Rainier travels to Toutle Lake.
