The Rainier football team stretched its winning streak to four games Friday, beating Toutle Lake 36-6 in a SWW 2B West matchup.

A week after throwing the ball for over 500 yards and eight touchdowns, the Mountaineers (5-2, 4-0 2B West) went to the ground game in bad conditions. Quarterback Jake Meldrum only threw four passes all night long, completing two for 60 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown to Jared Sprouffske.

In place of the air attack, Chris Grey took 15 carries for 143 yards, and Hunter Howeell took eight for 88. Dorian Cano ran for 50 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Meldrum had two carries for 46 yards and a score, and Jake Meldrum found paydirt twice with his legs.

Cano shared the team lead on tackles with Blake Roberts, logging 10, and Jordan Pringle had two interceptions.

Rainier will take on Wahkiakum in its final home game of the regular season next Friday.
