CATHLAMET - Wahkiakum racked up 379 yards on the ground in a 40-6 romp over Morton in Central 2B League action here Friday.

"It's tough to come down here and play," Morton coach Keith Coleman said. "They just execute real well on defense. They're really deceiving. They carry out their fakes well and they're really well coached."

Klaus Sorenson racked up 130 yards rushing and Brendan McClain rushed for 122 for the Mules.

Wahkiakum went ahead 20-0 at halftime with a touchdown by Sorenson and McClain. Toby David also caught a 20-yard TD pass from Ty Briscoe.

Briscoe accounted for two more TDs in the second half.

The Huskies scored their lone TD on a 27-yard pass from Taylor Weist to Travis Merriman.

Weist completed 6-of-12 passes for 73 yards while Merriman caught five passes for 71.

"Taylor played well at quarterback. Our pass protection seems to be working well. He's had time to throw," Coleman said.

Tim Thompson ran for 66 yards on 10 attempts to lead the Huskies.

Morton (0-2) plays a home game against Vancouver Christian at White Pass High School at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
