The new La Quinta by Wyndham in Centralia is formally celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15.

The ribbon-cutting will take place about 4:30 p.m. and with festivities continuing until 6 p.m. The event is open to the public.

The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to show their support and join the celebration at La Quinta, which is located at 1225 Mellen St. in Centralia.

“The owners are excited to bring a Wyndham property to the area and contribute to the economy of Lewis County,” General Manager Pamela Johnson stated in a news release.

La Quinta by Windham is owned by Brent Nicholson and Nick Westlund, who will be on-hand during the grand opening celebration.

Nicholson is local to the community and his family has owned the property since 2005.

“The grand opening of La Quinta represents the completion of a long-held dream of completing their first hotel property,” the chamber stated in the release. “Their family is best known for Nichelson Insurance.”

The hotel employs 17 people with its general manager coming from Rochester where she lived for 20 years. Johnson also worked at the Chehalis Holiday Inn before accepting the position with La Quinta.

“The owners are especially pleased to be adding to the area’s employment opportunities,” Johnson said.

The hotel features 88 rooms, including three family-style suites that offer a queen bed and bunk beds. Some of the rooms also feature a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator.

There are a variety of queen and king rooms throughout the hotel. Some rooms allow pets.

“The hotel is designed to meet the needs of modern needs, including ample places for plugging in digital devices not only in the rooms but throughout the dining facility and lobby,” the chamber stated. “The hotel has a meeting room that seats 45, a computer station in the lobby, and will soon be opening a bar for its guests. The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 15 offers an opportunity to explore the many features of the area's newest hotel.”
