One Dead, One Hospitalized After Overdoses in Centralia; Homicide Investigation Underway

One person is dead and another is hospitalized due to suspected overdoses and the Centralia Police Department is investigating the incident as a controlled substance homicide. 

Centralia police officers and detectives responded at about 10:18 a.m. Friday to a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue after initial reports indicated there were two dead people inside, according to a news release. 

The individuals were identified as a 46-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman.

“Prior to the arrival of police, medical personnel observed some signs of life in the male and began to administer life-saving measures,” according to the release. “The male was transported from the scene and at this time he is receiving medical care. The female was declared deceased at the scene.”

Fentanyl is suspected to be the cause of death for the woman and the “near death” of the man, according to the release. 



Centralia Police Department detectives in cooperation with the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Lewis County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident as a controlled substance homicide. 

The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be disclosed, according to Centralia police.
