A 23-year-old Centralia man was pronounced dead at Providence Centralia Hospital on Nov. 5 after he was involved in a rollover collision in the 300 block of Joppish Road on Nov. 5, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday.

The sheriff’s office had not previously announced details of the crash.

Three passengers in the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, all from Centralia, sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The 23-year-old, identified in a news release as Robert Orr by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday, was reportedly the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash, which was reported at approximately 2:46 a.m. on Nov. 5. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle when it rolled, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Passengers stated the driver had consumed alcohol and the vehicle had left the roadway after taking a corner at a high rate of speed,” Field Operations Bureau Chief Dusty Breen said in an email to a Chronicle reporter on Monday.

The Washington State Patrol responded to assist with documentation of the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. The 16-year-old reportedly left the scene before deputies arrived.

The Lewis County Coroner’s Office listed the cause of Orr’s death as blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death as accidental.

Bub’s Pub in Centralia is hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner for Orr’s family from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18. The cost is $20. The fundraiser is only open to those 21 and older.

“To support the celebration of life for a family devastated by the loss of their young son,” the business wrote in an announcement for the event. “All proceeds will go directly to the family to help with necessary expenses during this difficult time.”
