A home doubling as a cat rescue caught fire in Silverton, Oregon, Saturday evening, killing dozens of cats and causing around $700,000 in damages, firefighters said Sunday.

No people were harmed in the blaze.

Silverton fire crews responded to a house fire on Lone Oaks Loop around 5:30 p.m. By the time they arrived, fire engulfed at least 30% of the home, the fire department said. It took several hours to extinguish the fire.

Extensive fire, smoke and water damaged the fully insured home beyond repair. The American Red Cross is helping the couple displaced by the fire.

The occupants of the home run local nonprofit Silverton Cat Rescue. Fire officials said around 30 cats were killed by smoke and heat.

Fire investigators said the cause of the blaze was electrical.
