Parmantier fans 11 in 'Pigs win in Vancouver

Isaac Parmantier set the tone for the junior Rural Baseball Inc. squad, Tuesday, in a 7-3 victory over 360 Baseball Club in Senior Babe Ruth baseball action at Skyview High School. Parmantier (Toledo) struck out 11 batters in a seven-inning complete game effort that put the RiverPigs on a three-game win streak.

“Parmantier had a lot of confidence from the get-go,” RiverPigs coach J.C. Workman said. “Our middle infield did a great job keeping the runners honest and knocking down everything hit to them. Leith Chadwick (Naselle) and Dom Roland (Chehalis) made some great plays."

Parmantier also helped himself out at the plate with a base knock, a run scored, and a run batted in out of the leadoff spot.

The RiverPigs took a 4-0 lead in the third inning and it would be all they needed with Parmantier dealing out swords on the mound, but the Rural Baseball boys added three more in the sixth for good measure. Oliver Foster (Toutle) led the visitors with a pair of base hits and a run scored.

Nolan Scott (Kalama) and Jayce Huffman (Toutle) also added hits for the RiverPigs.

From there, Parmantier handled the rest. The soon-to-be freshman let his defense work through the middle innings and then struck out the side to end the game in the seventh. He allowed just three hits in the game.

“(Parmantier) is the kid you enjoy coaching because he asks questions and if you ask him to do something he will do whatever it takes to get it done,” Workman added. “He went right at the hitters and showed no fear. For only being a middle schooler he is a mature ballplayer. He has the tools to be great.”

The Rural Baseball Inc. RiverPigs are scheduled to host the Rainier (WA) Summer Mounties on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. at Castle Rock High School.
