The Trojans picked up their second straight Class 1B Columbia Valley victory with a thrilling 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 15-5 triumph against the Eagles on Wednesday night.

A night after notching 20-plus aces versus the Washington School for the Deaf, Pe Ell (3-2, 2-0 CV) continued its serving excellence behind 14 aces by Brookelynn King while Emma Kissner added eight and Ruby Magruder chipped in five.

The fifth set was a dominating closer by the Trojans after picking up victories in the second and third sets. King also dished out 12 assists while Madi Engel and Karli Phelps paced the front row with six kills.

“The girls had to really work to pull out this win,” Pe Ell head coach Jill Engel said. “We struggled receiving some of those serves, but found our stride and (gained) control of our court. The girls never let up.”

The Trojans will face Wahkiakum on the road on Tuesday.
