Pe Ell product Alissa Brooks-Johnson to be inducted into WIAA Hall of Fame

Alissa Brooks-Johnson, a 2013 Pe Ell High School graduate and Doty resident, will be inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony on May 6.

Brooks-Johnson was a 12-time varsity letter winner across three sports at Pe Ell, including four in volleyball, four in basketball, and four in track and field. She went on to compete in track and field at Washington State University, where she is also a member of the WSU Athletics Hall of Fame.

She was a middle blocker and outside hitter on the volleyball court under head coach Eddi Peterson, and she was twice named the Central 2B MVP. She earned All-Area honors in her final two years, including a Co-MVP nod her senior year, and she led Pe Ell to a seventh-place first at state in 2012.

In basketball, Brooks-Johnson competed as a guard/forward for coach Dawna Robinson and was a four-time Central 2B All-League selection, including three second-team nods. She helped Pe Ell take home a third-place state trophy her junior year and a third-place trophy her senior year.

In track and field, Brooks-Johnson won a total of 12 state championships across five events. She took home four 2B state titles in the 300-meter hurdles, two in the 200-meter dash, three in the 100-meter hurdles, two in long jump and one in triple jump. She led the Pe Ell girls team to three consecutive team state championships. Brooks-Johnson broke school records in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 100-meter hurdles, 400 meters and 300-meter hurdles.



After her prep career, Brooks-Johnson went on to become a two-time All-American and a three-time Pac-12 champion in the heptathlon at WSU. She took sixth at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in 2017 and 2018 in the heptathlon, and she also finished in the top 10 in the 400-meter hurdles in 2015.

Brooks-Johnson will be inducted alongside Kellen Moore (Prosser quarterback), Sue Doering (Colfax and Deer Park volleyball coach), Tom Moore (Prosser football coach), Bob Rose (football and basketball official), Bruce Campbell (WIAA district director), Cindy Adsit (WIAA assistant executive director) and Harlan Kredit (WIAA executive board administrator).

Brooks-Johnson is the daughter of Karen Brooks and Ken Johnson.
