PE ELL — The flu bug has hit dramatically in the Pe Ell School District as 60 students were out sick Thursday, but the Trojans were able to come out and get the job done with a 56-48 win over Wishkah in a loser-out game of the girls B District IV Basketball Tournament here Thursday.

The Trojans advance to play Adna at 1 p.m. Saturday at Montesano in a loser-out game. Adna beat Pe Ell twice during the regular season.

"Every class has been sick. So it was good to come out and get a win," Pe Ell coach Dawna Robinson said. "Brittany Woods played all game with a fever. I had to keep her out more than I normally would have. Others were really sick with high fevers."

Lacee Tolliver scored 14 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 19 while Amanda Carroll added 11 points and Andi Dillon had eight rebounds.

"They boxed Lacee in the second half. It was nice to see all the other girls step up, take care of the ball and make some key shots," Robinson said. "Katie Bateman had a real good game. She did a good job defensively and took good care of the ball."

Bateman, only a freshman, dished out six assists and had four rebounds.
