Lewis County Historical Museum director and former manager at the Yard Birds Mall Jason Mattson recently began restoration work on what he calls “an important piece of our history.” It’s the Yard Bird outside the Lewis County Historical Museum in Chehalis. He started in July. Since then, the beak has received new fiberglass, the whole statue has been primed and now the fowl is ready for paint, which will be applied in the coming days. Photographs from 1986 will be used in the restorative paint process to style the bird back to its original glory.
