Pine Street tree and parking lot maintenance planned in Centralia

Posted

The City of Centralia will be pruning two large trees and completing a cleanup of the Pine Street parking lot on Monday, Feb. 9, as part of ongoing efforts to care for the downtown canopy and maintain safe, welcoming public spaces, according to a news release from the Centralia Downtown Association.

What to expect:

• The Pine Street parking lot will be closed for the day until approximately 3:30 p.m. (work may wrap up earlier).

• A few adjacent parking stalls on Tower Avenue will also be temporarily closed and marked.

• Sidewalks and traffic flow will remain open, and access to downtown businesses will not be impacted.

This work supports long-term tree health, removes potential hazards, prepares the area for future banner poles and improves safety and aesthetics in the downtown core, the release stated.

The City of Centralia also reminds residents that new downtown tree planting will begin the week of Feb. 17. Temporary, short-term impacts may occur near planting areas, with business access remaining open, according to the release.
