The top-ranked Adna volleyball team extended its winning streak to eight games on Thursday, topping Morton-White Pass in three sets 25-14, 25-16, 25-15 in a C2BL matchup.

The Pirates (8-0, 3-0 C2BL) benefitted from strong play throughout their lineup, including some players who came off the bench and performed well, according to Adna coach Wendie Dotson.

Ashlee VonMoos and Ava Simms served well and were able to get their hands on balls in the back row, while Shelby Eixenberger served aggressively before transitioning into setting and notching a couple of assists.

The usual suspects had their share of success as well, as Charissa Schierman tallied eight assists, five digs, three aces and two kills while Kendall Humphrey added nine kills, three digs and an ace.

Karsyn Freeman tallied eight kills and two aces of her own, while Danika Hallom also added fours kills, three digs and an ace. Jaylee Humphrey also notched an ace while also tallying a pair of digs and assists.

Gaby Guard was “pretty perfect” as a passer, dishing out 13 assists while also having seven digs, four kills and an ace. Bailey Chapman had a presence at the net as well, blocking two shots while also adding five kills.

As for the Timberwolves (4-6, 0-3 C2BL), they struggled to get going throughout, and they couldn’t dig themselves out of an early hole.

We just couldn't get out of our heads tonight and we dwelled on every little mistake we made,” MWP coach Jamie Brazil said. “Adna is a great team, but we were not mentally in the game tonight.”

Both teams are home on Tuesday, as the Pirates will host Toutle Lake and the Timberwolves will welcome Napavine.
