The Adna volleyball team improved to 4-0 on Thursday, defeating Rainier in three sets.

Both teams struggled with unforced errors throughout, but the Pirates (4-0) were able to come away with the win thanks to solid all-around days from a few key players.

Jaylee Humphrey recorded eight kills, five digs, and four blocks while Danika Hallom nearly had a double-double, posting 12 kills, eight digs, two blocks and an ace.

Karsyn Freeman also had 12 kills and eight digs, and she was able to send four aces over the net. Charissa Schierman had five aces of her own and Gaby Guard racked up 22 assists.

Through four games, the Pirates have not dropped a single set this season.

For the Mountaineers (4-2), Acacia Murphy, Allyson Ooms and Janess Blackburn each had six kills, while Blackburn also added three aces. Brooklynn Swenson tallied nine assists. Swenson and Blackburn were perfect serving the ball.

“I praise them for working hard and not giving up against a very experienced and well rounded Adna team,” Rainier coach Carrie Ooms said.

Adna will host Napavine in a battle of two unbeaten teams on Tuesday, while Rainier will look to get back on track against Toutle Lake, also on Tuesday.
