Pirates win on second straight long road trip

The Adna soccer team’s Wednesday trip to the coast was well worth it, as the Pirates came out with a 2-0 win over Ocosta in Westport in Central 2B League play despite a few rough patches.

“We didn’t play our greatest game tonight, but we can learn from our mistakes and continue to get better,” coach Patrick Richardson said.

The Pirates (5-4-1, 5-0-1 C2BL) took the lead in the 21st minute, when the Ocosta keeper tried to clear her lines but ended up bouncing the ball off her own teammate into the back of the net.

In the 36th minute, Adna won a penalty kick, and Margarite Humphrey converted it to double the lead.

Jordanne Moon made five saves on the night to preserve the shutout.

The Pirates will get their crack at league-leading Kalama next Monday, on the road.
