A small plane made an emergency landing on the side of a Washington highway Saturday afternoon.
Eastbound lanes of Washington State Route 14 shut down after the plane landed on the highway near Southeast Marine Park Way, according to Washington State Patrol. The plane did not hit any vehicles, and nobody onboard was injured.
The pilot was forced to land after encountering engine troubles shortly after takeoff, said Dakota Russell, a spokesperson for the state patrol. Russell posted a photo to social media Saturday showing the plane parked on the grassy shoulder of the highway.
All eastbound lanes reopened at 1:40 p.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation said, as the plane continued on to the Pearson Field Airport in Vancouver.
