Preliminary election results for Aug. 1 will be online around 8:15 p.m., Lewis County says

Unofficial results for the Aug. 1 primary election will be available on the Lewis County Auditor’s Office website around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

All counties in Washington must upload their election results to the Secretary of State’s reporting site at the same time on election night, which does cause a delay in the results being posted, the office said in a news release.

“Be patient and keep checking,” the release stated. County certification of the primary will take place on Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.

Elections on the ballot for the primary include several city council positions throughout Lewis County, a few school board races and fire district levies. Ballots are due in the election by 8 p.m. on Tuesday either in the mail or in ballot drop boxes. Those turning in ballots through the mail are encouraged to enter the post office rather than leave their envelopes in drop boxes, because ballots postmarked after Aug. 1 will not be accepted.
